The only times I enjoy London are when I've got the day off or it's the evening and I'm behaving like a tourist (trip down the river, seeing the sights/going to the theatre/galleries/whatever).
Day-to-day living here depresses me. Just too overcrowded for my comfort. Public transport choked up with human effluvia. The world's flotsam and jetsam shrieking into mobile phones in dozens of truly ugly languages, all in unison. Scum spitting on the pavement. London these days reminds me of those scenes in Men In Black when all the aliens are coming through 'customs'. And fuck me, the NOISE from the traffic and sirens wailing 24 hours a day.
I appreciate many people are not bothered by the things that depress and irritate me, so each to their own.
But as soon as circumstances allow, I will move away.

I don't need to pay tax to see the architecture and be surrounded by an amazing city. Get a great view of the shard from my bedroom window.
Get to go to Upton Park! The Olympic Stadium and Wembley.
Go to concert venues (small and large), state of the art cinemas.
Go to the theatre sometimes, comedy clubs.
Certainly go to the parks in the summer.
Go for a walk along the south bank with all the performers and see how happy and entertained the kids are - the museums are amazing,... so yes I do benefit from them all.
Anyone who thinks London is "shit" is a fuckwit.
However, there are some really shit aspects of London, I will 100% accept that - particularly when bringing up kids. Solely based on having a growing family, I'm considering moving out of London for a decade just while the kids grow up... but keeping my house. This is just a recognition that like any big city in the world there are some social problems... but that's no different to New York, Paris etc... in fact it's better in London than those sorts of places.
My plan is to move back to London then when the kids are all at uni.
We shall see. Either way, I recognise the negatives but who would live in London and not actually take advantage of everything is has to offer?
